Secure parking options
Several secure parking facilities have been set up for bicycles: bike stations, dedicated spaces in underground parking garages, and bike parking areas near train stations and metro and RER stations.
Check them out on the map below:
Parking spaces
Many underground parking garages offer spaces designated for bicycles.
These are secure parking spaces with attractive rates (about €10 per month and €75 per year).
To find out which parks offer this type of service, check the map above and click on the yellow icons.

Gare de Lyon
Equipped with a metal fence and wood siding, this bike station is located at the entrance to the “East” tunnel of the Van Gogh underpass, next to the station plaza, between the Seine and Rue de Bercy.
It has 198 parking spaces, including 32 for electric-assist bicycles (e-bikes).
Montparnasse Station
This bike station has 375 bike spaces, is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and is monitored and secured by a video surveillance system as well as regular patrols.
Access is granted via a magnetic badge, which is provided upon registration. A sticker must be affixed to the bike.
Its entrances are located:
- Across from No. 22 Rue de l'Arrivée
- On the plaza in front of Place Raoul-Dautry, across from the Montparnasse train station
Secure parking facilities at train stations (Île-de-France Mobilités bike parking)
Secure lockers have been installed in Parisian train stations in partnership with the SNCF, the RATP, and Île-de-France Mobilités.
They are available free of charge with a valid annual Navigo pass (Navigo, Navigo Senior, Imagine R for students, Imagine R for high school students).
The following rates apply to other users:
- Daily rate: €2
- Weekly: €4
- Monthly: 10€
- Annual: €30
There are several within the city limits of Paris (Montparnasse Station, Saint-Lazare Station, Gare de l’Est, etc.), and more bike lockers are currently being developed: The largest secure bike parking facility in the Île-de-France region opened on June 25, 2024, at Gare du Nord, with 1,186 secure spaces.
Bicycle Storage Areas in Condominiums
Since 2006, the City of Paris’s Local Urban Development Plan has required the creation of secure bicycle storage areas in new office and residential buildings. The new bioclimatic Local Urban Development Plan (PLU), adopted in 2024, increases the minimum size of bicycle storage areas for new buildings.
To support the retrofitting of existing buildings, the City of Paris offers a grant for the installation or equipping of a secure storage area.
Parking spaces on the streets of Paris
There are more than 120,000 on-street parking spaces available.
Since 2023, the City has been setting up parking spaces equipped with specialized racks for cargo bikes.
The locations were chosen primarily in front of public-facing establishments, in attractive neighborhoods, at intermodal hubs, and near crosswalks.
Please note: cargo bikes may park without paying (for free) in the paid parking zone.
Finding Your Missing Bike
Did you park your bike in an unguarded spot and can't find it anymore?
- If you believe your bicycle was removed as part of roadwork (and only in that case), you can contact the relevant Territorial Road Maintenance Section (STV). They will be able to tell you which company is carrying out the work and may have moved or recovered your bicycle.
- Your bicycle was removed because it had been left in the same spot for too long; it was deemed a derelict bicycle, and its owner could not be identified. Removed derelict bicycles are taken to the recycling center and cannot be retrieved.
- Your bicycle may have been impounded by the police in connection with an event or gathering (e.g., a visit by a head of state), in which case it is currently at a Paris police station.
- If you suspect that your bike has been stolen, you can file a report at the police station. If you had locked your bike to a subway vent grate, you should contact the RATP.
To help prevent theft, as well as in the event of loss or abduction, marking has been mandatory since January1, 2021, for both new and used bicycles.
If your bike isn't registered yet, you can have it marked with a Bicycode.
