Sexual health centers

Why come to a sexual health center?

The 23 sexual health centers offer a comprehensive approach to sexual health issues: information and consultations on gynecology and contraception, abortion requests (abortion: voluntary interruption of pregnancy), screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), detection of violence, education in sexual and emotional life.

For whom?

Consultations and interviews are open to all, minors and adults alike. Parental consent is not required for minors. For minors and people without social security coverage, the City of Paris will cover the cost of prescribed examinations. Users with Carte Vitale or Aide Médicale d'Etat (AME) are asked to present it during consultations. This service is fully funded by the health insurance system. The strictest confidentiality is guaranteed for all procedures carried out at the centers.

Who can you meet there?

The teams, made up of medical and social secretaries, doctors, midwives, nurses and marriage and family counsellors, offer :
  • information on sexual health,
  • medical consultations,
  • individual or couple interviews,
  • group information sessions.

Centre de lutte anti tuberculose (CLAT)

Tuberculosis is a dangerous, contagious disease that affects everyone: men, women, children and infants alike. To intensify ongoing surveillance of this disease, the City of Paris is mobilizing its health professionals.
Tuberculosis Prevention Center 75 (CLAT 75)
15-17, rue Charles Bertheau, Paris 13e
>> More

Tuberculosis is a contagious and dangerous disease if left untreated. It is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium Tuberculosis or Koch's bacillus (B.K.). This microbe is invisible to the naked eye: it can only be seen under a microscope. Tuberculosis affects the lungs in 80% of cases, but can also affect the lymph nodes, brain, bones, liver, kidneys…

Not everyone infected with the tuberculosis bacillus develops the disease:
- in the majority of cases, patients have a latent tuberculosis infection (LTI), diagnosed by an intradermal reaction or a positive blood test. The infected person is neither ill nor contagious;
- in around one case in 10, the infected person develops tuberculosis disease, particularly if his or her immune defenses are impaired.

It is transmitted when the sick person coughs, talks or spits: germs are expelled and can be breathed in by others in the same room. The more frequent or prolonged the contact, the greater the risk of contamination.
Infection is not transmitted through food, household objects or utensils.

Vaccination against tuberculosis or B.C.G. (Bacille de Calmette et Guérin) reduces the risk of progression to the disease in the event of exposure to the bacterium, but is not always sufficient. Vaccination has not been compulsory since 2007. Only those most at risk should be vaccinated.

Fever with night sweats, weight loss, extreme fatigue, coughing up bloody sputum, chest pain and shortness of breath. Tuberculosis can sometimes be asymptomatic.

Treatment of tuberculosis is simple and highly effective: several drugs are taken in the morning on an empty stomach. Treatment lasts at least 6 months, and requires regular medical supervision. LTI preventive treatment lasts 3 months. These treatments are reimbursed at 100% by social security.

- Chest X-ray
- A blood test or skin test (IDR)
- Medical consultation
- By laboratory examination of sputum

Tarifications

All procedures performed in the centers (CMS, CeGIDD, CLAT, CIDD, CV) are free of charge, with the exception of those for international vaccinations and those performed in health centers.
In health centers, they offer full third-party payment with social security and most mutual insurance companies. To do so, patients must present their carte vitale and their mutuelle card.

Cases special cases

You do not pay the co-payment if you are a beneficiary of Complémentaire santé solidaire (CSS), which replaced CMU-C (complementary universal health coverage) and ACS (assistance with the payment of complementary health insurance).
The following are also exempt from co-payment:
  • procedures performed as part of an accident at work or occupational disease
  • procedures performed as part of an organized screening program (for breast cancer, for example).
The "ticket modérateur " represents the patient's "remaining out-of-pocket expenses" after deduction of the portion covered by the health insurance scheme. For a GP consultation costing €30, this is €9.
If the patient has a mutual insurance company and the City of Paris has signed an agreement with it, the patient does not have to pay the co-payment in advance.
This amount may be increased if you consult another general practitioner or a specialist without having been referred by your GP.
All fees charged by health centers must be displayed at reception.
Dental procedures are usually subject to an estimate, which is only carried out once it has been accepted.
To find all sector 1 professionals working in private practice, visit the ameli website.
Health centers are subject to an authorization procedure managed by theAgence Régionale de Santé (ARS), and to an agreement with thehealth insurance scheme (CPAM), which requires them to
  • strict compliance with the sector 1 tariffs set out in the agreement between practitioners and the health insurance scheme (no extra charges)
  • mandatory third-party payment
  • authorization to perform "out-of-nomenclature" procedures, with prices established with tact and moderation, primarily for dental prosthetic procedures.
Third-party payment allows the insured person, who is up to date with his or her rights, to waive the advance payment of expenses, which may be :
  • either in full, if the center has an agreement with mutual insurance companies
  • or partial, if the center does not have an agreement with a mutual insurance company. In the latter case, the insured must pay the "ticket modérateur" corresponding to the portion not covered by the health insurance scheme, then send the receipt to his or her mutual insurance company for reimbursement.
