Leisure centers are located in public nursery and elementary schools in Paris. They welcome your children on Wednesdays and during the school vacations.

Leisure centers: a quality edutainment offering

Parisian leisure centers cater for children aged 3 to 5 in nursery schools and 6 to 14 in elementary schools.
All children aged 3 to 14 who live and/or attend a public or private school in Paris can enroll in Parisian leisure centers.
Leisure centers offer a high-quality edutainment program that enables all children and teenagers to develop, socialize, have fun and learn in a different way, by themselves and with others.
Cultural, sports and outdoor activities, adapted to your child's age, are offered throughout the year, and numerous outings are organized.
Some leisure centers develop a particular theme (bilingual centers, for example), as do many resource centers that regularly welcome groups of children around rich and varied activities (film library, environment, relaxation, theater, etc.).
Leisure centers are financed and organized by the City of Paris. They receive additional funding from the Caisse d'allocation familiale (CAF).

To check that your leisure center is open, you can consult the list of open/closed leisure centers.
If your leisure center is closed during the vacations, a replacement center will be proposed to welcome your child. Don't hesitate to get in touch directly with your leisure center's Town Education Officer (REV).

Registration for Wednesday leisure centers

Registration for the Wednesday leisure center is compulsory. You can register your child :
  • Yearly (by tacit renewal of registration)
  • Or over a specific period (see registration calendar below).
  • Access to the Paris Familles portal for leisure center registrations is only possible during each registration period.
  • All Parisian children, including those enrolled in private schools, can attend our leisure centers.
  • If you have any difficulty registering your child for the leisure center, please contact the Town Education Officer. Contact details are posted at the school entrance.
  • Children not registered during the registration period may be accepted subject to availability. An exceptional attendance fee will be charged.

Enhanced safety measures

Due to the activation of the emergency level of the Vigipirate plan, security has been reinforced for leisure centers:
  • please avoid crowding in the vicinity of the center when dropping off or picking up your children.
  • to facilitate the reception of children, parents whose children are registered for the first time or whose children attend a leisure center different from their usual school are asked to fill in the administrative and health information form beforehand.
  • staggered arrivals and departures are possible within the timetable specified here.
  • entry to the premises is subject to an identity check and possible visual bag inspection.


These measures are in place to ensure the safety of all.

Calendar of registration periods

In order to improve childcare, better adapt activities to the different ages of children and reduce food waste, prior registration of children at the leisure center is compulsory according to a defined schedule.
Registration periods are open for 15 days, approximately 30 days before each leisure center period.

How does it work in practice?

  • Billing for leisure centers is based on registrations and not on actual attendance.
  • For summer vacations, registration is by the day only.
  • Summer vacation rates always include lunch.
  • For other school vacations, registration is by the day or half-day, but the fixed price remains the same.
  • For Wednesday afternoons, registration is on a flat-rate basis for all Wednesdays between two vacation periods (bimester).
  • If your child is enrolled in the leisure center, the amount will be due even in the event of absence (all enrollments are billed), unless the absence is justified by a medical certificate.
  • If your child comes to the leisure center without being registered, or goes to a center other than the one in which he or she is registered, a surcharge of 30% will be applied to your fee.

Age limit

  • Between 3 and 5 years and six months: your child can be enrolled in a nursery school.
  • Between 5 years and 6 months and 7 years: your child can be enrolled and cared for in a nursery or elementary leisure center, depending on your choice.
  • Between 7 and the 14th birthday, on the1st day of the school vacation period: your child can be registered and welcomed in an elementary center.
For secondary school students (from 6e to3e), your child can also benefit from the "Tou.te.s au collège, c'est les vacances" scheme!

Wednesday afternoon leisure centers

Need a Mon Paris account?
If you don't have a Paris Familles account, you can contact the City Education Officer at your child's school.

You need to create a Mon Paris account to access all the City of Paris' digital services, including the Paris Familles portal.

Every Wednesday afternoon, we offer a variety of activities to suit all ages and interests.
Registration is :
  • Flat rate: applies to all Wednesday afternoons between two successive short vacation periods (e.g. from early September to mid-October). It is therefore not possible to choose just one Wednesday.
  • Annual: valid for all Wednesday afternoons of the year, excluding vacations. You can start or end a package during the year, according to the defined registration / deregistration schedule.
    The package begins on the first working day after a vacation period and ends on the last working day before a vacation period. Invoicing is done on a monthly basis according to your rate.
Registrations are made online via your Paris Familles account.

It is possible to cancel the package during the next registration period.

You can register your child for the Wednesday leisure center via the Paris Familles portal. If you have any difficulties, please contact the City Education Officer at the school where you wish to register your child.

Leisure centers open or closed on Wednesdays

Please note
If your child is enrolled in the leisure center on a Wednesday afternoon and is absent, that Wednesday will be billed.

What do children do on Wednesday afternoons?

Leisure center programs are part of the City of Paris' educational project, which focuses on various themes:
  • reading and expression: theater, painting, storytelling…
  • scientific and technical culture
  • cultural learning: museum visits, workshops…
  • education of the eye, photography, cinema…
  • environmental awareness and sports activities
  • sustainable development
Some centers are developing projects designed jointly by leisure center staff and professionals from Parisian cultural institutions (e.g. the L'Art pour grandir project). These projects are designed as genuine art education tools for children.
In addition, other centers are experimenting with the creation of City of Paris leisure center blogs. Real editorial committees, made up of a coordinator and budding writers, cartoonists and photographers, publish articles created on Wednesdays.

How do I register my child?

And what if you haven't registered your child during the registration period?
Registrations (and deregistrations) for leisure centers can be made via your Paris Familles account or by paper form to your school's City Education Officer if you are unable to register online. You can register your child in the leisure center of your choice.

Registration must be carried out on the Paris Familles portal using your Mon Paris account. This can only be accessed during each registration period.

If you have difficulty registering your child on the Paris Familles portal, you can contact your school's City Education Officer to obtain a paper registration form.

If you have not yet provided Paris Familles with proof of your household income, you must do so as soon as possible (see Fees section). If you fail to do so, you will be charged the highest price bracket (T10).

If you haven't registered your child during the registration period, you can visit the leisure center of your choice during the school vacations. You can go directly to the center on the same day, and they will either accept your child, subject to availability, or refer you to another center.

A surcharge of 30% will be applied to your fee for each day of unscheduled attendance.

On site, you will be asked to fill in an administrative and health information form.

If you have not yet provided Paris Familles with proof of your household income, you must do so as soon as possible (see Fees section). If you fail to do so, you will be charged the highest rate (T10).

Find out more beforehand from your school's City Education Officer!

Once your child has been registered via the Paris Familles portal or by means of a paper registration form given to the City Education Officer, there are a number of formalities to be completed when your child attends the leisure center for the first time.

To do this, you must accompany your child and meet with the manager or a member of the activity team no later than the1st day of your child's attendance at the center, in order to :

1) complete the administrative and health information form (which you can download here or obtain from the activity team before your child's first day at the center)

2) present the proof of identity mentioned on the form: the family record book (or a birth certificate showing parentage).

We also recommend that you present :

- an insurance certificate, if applicable (you'll need to provide the name of the company, the policy number and the date of issue)
- proof of address if the child does not attend a public school in Paris
- a certificate of school attendance if the child is under 3 years of age but attending school
- a certificate of attendance if the child does not live in Paris but attends a private school in the city.

Tip:
Bring your child's health record or a photocopy of the vaccination pages, as you will be required to indicate the status of compulsory vaccinations (and optionally the status of recommended vaccinations).


You need to create a Mon Paris account to access all the City of Paris' digital services, including the Paris Familles portal.

If you have difficulty accessing the digital services, you can register your child using the paper registration form available from the City Education Officer (REV) at the school of your choice, and then give him or her the completed form.

This first registration will automatically generate a Paris Familles account. You will then be able to log in to your account for the following periods: vacations, Wednesdays….

You can cancel or modify the registration made on the Paris Familles portal during the registration period by logging back on to the portal and returning to the registration form:

- to modify your child's registration for the leisure center, click on "Modify registration".
This new registration will cancel the previous one, if you are still within the online registration deadline (see registration calendar).

- to cancel a leisure center registration: click on "Cancel registration".
Your registration will then be cancelled.

After the registration period, cancellations or modifications are no longer possible.

Please note
If you have used a paper registration form, you must fill in a new form and hand it in to the Town Education Officer, or deposit it in a ballot box, where available, at the school lodge.

If you have used the Paris Familles portal to register your child, you will receive a confirmation e-mail as soon as you have completed your registration. If you have not received a confirmation e-mail, there are several options:

- The registration confirmation e-mail has been automatically filed in your spam folder.
- You have not finalized your registration (an e-mail address must be entered).
- No e-mail address is associated with your account
- The associated e-mail address is incorrect

If you don't have an e-mail address, we advise you to correct your data directly in your "My Paris" account.

You can also consult the list of confirmed registrations for your child's various activities.

If you use a paper registration form, the City Education Officer will confirm your child's registration within a specified time. If you have any doubts about the confirmation of your registration, you can contact the Responsable Éducatif Ville at any time.

Derogation requests

To enrol your child in a leisure center, you must request a waiver from the city's Department of School Affairs in the following cases:

Parents must indicate the reason for their request and provide the following information:

1) proof of address of the legal guardian who will receive the invoice

2) a certificate of school attendance or enrolment for the start of the next school year in a nursery school (public or private Parisian school)

3) proof that the child is potty-trained (unless the request is for a day-care center)

Leisure centers welcome children until the day before their 14th birthday. However, if during the current school year a child has attended a leisure center before his or her 14th birthday, a waiver may be granted to allow the child to attend a leisure center until the end of the current year's summer vacation.

A waiver may be requested in the following cases:
- Child attending school in Paris (public or private)
- Child with at least one parent living in Paris (separated or divorced parents)
- Child of at least one parent who is a City of Paris employee or equivalent
- Children whose grandparents live in Paris

In their application, parents must provide the following information:
- Reason for request
- Surname, first name, date of birth of each child
- Parents' full names and dates of birth
- Telephone number (mobile and landline) and e-mail address of at least one parent
- Certificate of school attendance or registration for the next school year for each child attending a Parisian school
- Anticipated dates of attendance at a Paris leisure center.

For children who do not live or attend school in Paris, it is necessary to enclose the address of a Parisian domicile (with proof of address), except for City of Paris employees, who need only provide proof of employment with the City of Paris.

The postal address of the legal guardian who will receive the invoice must also be provided (with proof of address), if this is different from the Parisian address justifying the request for exemption.

Depending on the request and the situation, a positive or negative answer will be given to the family. Provided that all supporting documents have been supplied, this reply will be given within a maximum of one week.
Families whose request for a waiver has been accepted must then complete a paper form at the relevant leisure center (to be requested from the City Education Officer) and present the e-mail confirming the validation of their waiver by the School Affairs Department.

Equal access for children to leisure centers (CLAP)

The City of Paris is committed to an inclusive approach to education, and all children, whatever their situation, can be welcomed at Parisian municipal leisure centers.
There are also 8 municipal leisure centers (CLAP), each catering for 30 children, including 15 children with disabilities. Individualized care is provided, with schedules adapted where necessary. Supervision is reinforced, with 8 professionals, including the director, supervising the group. A 9th municipal CLAP, located in a secondary school, welcomes 15 disabled young people aged 11 to 16. Parity is achieved through joint projects and partnerships with organizations and associations inside and outside the school.
Some CLAPs are associated with a conventional leisure center, and are marked with an asterisk in the list below. The supervision rate is maintained, in addition to that of the leisure center.
Pedagogy and activities are adapted to the needs of the children and young people, with a particular emphasis on mutual help and solidarity.

How do I enroll my child in CLAP?

The CLAP director meets with families or legal representatives prior to enrolment, to present the project and find out about the child's or young person's needs, anticipate the timetable, the possible involvement of an outside professional during the leisure center, the mode of transport for trips, and any other information needed to organize the child's stay.
Like the leisure centers, the CLAPs' pedagogical projects develop different themes, in line with the City of Paris' educational project:
  • artistic, scientific and sports practices, image education
  • sustainable development and environmental awareness
  • citizenship education
  • health, well-being, development of psycho-social skills
During the short school vacations, some CLAPs also offer 5-day mini-stays.

Timetables

  • On Wednesdays, leisure centers open at 1:30pm. Families can pick up their child(ren) at 4:30pm (before snack time) or between 5:30pm and 6:30pm at nursery centers. Elementary school children leave at 6pm.
  • During the short school vacations, children can be accommodated for a half-day (except in the case of full-day outings), or a full day.
  • During the summer, we welcome children by the day.
These times can be adapted, in agreement with the CLAP director, according to the child's needs and the schedule of activities on offer.

Price list

They are applied according to a family quotient based on household income.
If you fail to present proof from your Caisse des Ecoles (school fund) of your family income, you will be charged the maximum rate.

Early childhood leisure centers

The early childhood leisure centers stem from a desire to build bridges between the different levels, from nursery to school and from elementary to secondary school.
"Mon premier center de loisirs" (My first leisure center) welcomes children from the kindergarten section who will be starting kindergarten the following year, as well as children already attending school, to encourage exchanges and familiarize the youngest children with the school environment.
These centers are staffed by early childhood specialists from the Family and Early Childhood Department (DFPE) and the School Affairs Department (DASCO). The teams are made up of animators, childcare assistants and early childhood educators.

Recipes

Calculating the rate band

Rates are applied according to a tariff band calculated on the basis of a family quotient (based on your household resources), which you must have established each year.
To do this, you can :
  • use the digital tool Mon Quotient Familial Parisien to register your family quotient directly in Paris Familles. Depending on your situation, the digital tool will enable you to determine your quotient and send specific supporting documents if requested.
  • or, if you don't use the digital service, drop off or mail your supporting documents to the Paris Familles team.
The expected supporting documents are :
  • If you are a Caf de Paris beneficiary and have already authorized the City of Paris to update your data automatically, you don't need to do anything.
  • If you are a Caf beneficiary but have not opted for automatic updating of your beneficiary data, you must send your updated Caf family quotient certificate to the Paris familles team.
  • If you are not a Caf beneficiary, you must send your tax notice for year N-1 on your income for year N-2 to the Paris familles team.
  • If you are in another situation, contact Paris Familles
If you don't provide proof of income, your rate band will be set at the highest, and you will pay the maximum rate.
Please note
For school meals, you must have your price band established by the caisse des écoles in your arrondissement, which is your contact in this area. They will also send you the bill for your children's meals.

If you don't present proof from your Caisse des écoles stating your fee band, you will be charged the maximum fee (band 10).
Your price band, determined by the caisse des écoles, is valid for the whole school year. It is valid for the whole family. If you have children enrolled in different Parisian public establishments (schools, collèges), you only need to take one step.
Keep a copy of the notification of your rate band, as it will also be needed to determine the applicable rate for other school or extracurricular activities. If you haven't done so, contact your local Caisse des écoles as soon as possible!

Please note: billing is based on compulsory pre-registration, not on your child's attendance at the center.

If your child is registered at the center but does not attend, you will be required to pay the registration fee, except in the case of absence due to illness during the summer and summer vacations, for which a medical certificate must be produced within 2 months of the first day of absence:

Please note: unregistered children may be accepted subject to availability. A surcharge of 30% will be applied for each day of non-attendance.

Similarly, if your child is enrolled in a leisure center but attends another one, you will pay 30% more.

Never give your credit card number over the phone or by e-mail to anyone pretending to be a City of Paris employee and asking you to pay your Paris Familles bill this way, as you could be the victim of a scam.
The Paris Familles service will send you an invoice specifying the methods of payment.

No money can be paid to the leisure center.

For your income tax return, you can deduct expenses related to the attendance of leisure centers by your children under 6, excluding the cost of meals taken in this context.

Timetables

During the school year

Wednesday afternoons during the school year, from 1:30pm to 6pm in elementary schools or from 1:30pm to 6:30pm in nursery schools.
For children attending pre-school leisure centers, subject to the outings program and the prior agreement of the center manager, parents (or persons they have designated in writing) may collect their child(ren) between 4.30pm and 4.40pm and from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

During school vacations

For the full day

Kindergartens
Children are welcomed from 8.20am to 6.30pm. Parents can drop off their child(ren) between 8.20am and 9am and pick them upbetween 4.30pm and 4.40pm or between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.
Elementary leisure centers
Children are welcomed from 8.20am to 6pm. Parents can drop off their child(ren) between 8.20am and 9am and pick them up between 5.30pm and 6pm.
During the summer vacations, these times may vary slightly depending on the program of outings and when children return to the centers at the end of the day.

For a half-day

Half-day care is available during short vacations, but not in summer (July and August). The times are as follows:
  • Morning: 8.20am to 11.30am-11.40am if the child does not have lunch at the leisure center, or 8.20am to 1.20pm-1.30pm if the child has lunch at the leisure center (meal times must be specified when registering).
  • Afternoon: from 1:20 pm to 1:30 pm if the child does not have lunch at the center, or from 11:20 am to 11:30 am if the child has lunch at the center (meal times must be specified when registering).
  • Outings for nursery schools: at 4:30 p.m. or between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
  • Departure for elementary day-care centers: 6 p.m. (no early departure possible between 5:30 and 6 p.m.)

Meals

The Caisses des écoles, which are already responsible for preparing meals on school days, also provide meals at leisure centers during the vacations.
In most cases, the meal is served at the table in the leisure center's dining room. If a day trip is planned, the Caisse des écoles will provide a picnic lunch.
After lunch, the youngest children, and those who wish, take a siesta.
Registration for Wednesday lunch is done in the same way as for other days of the week, with the school principal.
For meals at the leisure center during the vacations, registration for the meal is done at the same time as registration for the leisure center.

Individualized welcome project (PAI)

An individualized reception plan (PAI) is drawn up in conjunction with families and professionals to adapt the reception of children with disabilities, chronic conditions or any health problem requiring treatment or special attention.
The PAI specifies the time the child will be present, any outside care required, the corresponding timetable, any specific arrangements to be made at the school, warning signs and procedures specific to the pathology and, if necessary, a table of contraindicated or authorized foods.
What service will be billed?
Only families whose children are enrolled under a PAI program (projet d'accueil individualisé) and who bring their own packed lunches to the center can benefit from not being charged for lunch at the canteen. To do so, you must inform the activity team on your child's first day at the center.
